The Ultimate Reuben Sandwich

Who doesn’t love a good sandwich? My husband Ted is a big sandwich lover. We enjoy making sandwiches together. (Now that’s true love!) This Ultimate Reuben Sandwich is something we enjoy eating while watching football or basketball. (Just kidding – I don’t watch sports; usually it is Ted and my son Nicholas) I only stop and check-in once and a while! (I like it that way.)
The thing I love about a great sandwich is that they are delicious, easy and quick to make. You can’t go wrong with this recipe for the Ultimate Reuben Sandwich on game day or any other day!

Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 3 Slice or Rye/Pumpernickel bread
- 16 + slices of pastrami or corned beef
- 8+ slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 cup sauerkraut
- ½ cup Thousand Island dressing
Instructions
- Layer bread starting with Thousand Island dressing, pastrami, cheese, sauerkraut, dressing and bread. Butter bread and place butter side down on grill over medium heat. Allow each side to toast on each side about 3 -4 minutes. For a better sandwich place weight over the sandwich to flatten it and help the meat heat all the way through the entire sandwich. You can use a heavy cast iron pan or wrap few bricks with foil or even a tea pot filled with water. I have used all three and they work great! Slice sandwich in half and serve with your favorite chips and a dill pickle!
