Spiced Hot Apple Pie Cocktail

When I was in college, a friend introduced me to the most amazing hot drink called a "Hot Apple Pie" it was made with apple cider and an Italian liqueur called Tuaca. I loved the stuff. We use to go to this really cool bar that was once an old fire station. It overlooked Route 66 otherwise known as Central Avenue. When they converted the building to a restaurant and bar they left the solid brass fire pole in tact. Every single time I passed it I was tempted to slide down. I really had to control myself. I am sure many people couldn't resist the temptation of sliding down it. The building had lots of charm. It was a great place to watch our colorful New Mexico sun sets. The converted fire station had an awesome outdoor patio with a huge corner fire place. I loved to go there and sit near the fire sipping on my Hot Apple Pie. I have so many awesome memories of my time in that old converted fire station. In honor of that drink I created a "Spiced Hot Apple Pie Cocktail". This drink is similar to the hot apple pie, but made with spiced rum and spiced cider, topped with whipping cream and sprinkled with cinnamon and garnished with a cinnamon stick. It is delicious. The perfect hot cocktail for the chilly nights ahead. Although, here in New Mexico we are still reaching the low 80's during the day, it is hard to imagine what the cold chilly nights will actually feel like. I hope you enjoy this recipe for my "Spiced Hot Apple Pie Cocktail". As always, I love hearing from you. For more good stuff please follow me on Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook. Cook Time
3 min
Ingredients
- 16 ounces Apple Cider
- 4 ounces Jamican Dark Rum
- Whipped Topping
- Cinnamon Stick
- Ground Cinnamon
Instructions
- In an small pot warm apple cider. Add dark rum and stir. Divide into two serving glasses. Add whipped topping, sprinkle with cinnamon. Garnish with cinnamon stick and serve.
Notes
- I used Myers Jamaican Dark Rum in this recipe. I would not substitute and light Rum, this dark rum has a deep molasses flavor that is slightly sweet. It gives the drink a depth of flavor also adding to the color.
