Doggies love homemade treats. When you really think about homemade treats are the best because they are fresh and healthy. I have been on a doggie treat kick . . . last week I made homemade peanut butter dog treats and this week I thought I might try something new. My dog Buster loves pumpkin. At Halloween when we are carving pumpkins he steals little pieces of raw pumpkin and runs away to eat them. Buster is not alone, most dogs enjoy eating pumpkin. I have a friend that mixes pumpkin puree in with her dog's dry food. I haven't actually tried that . . . but I thought the next best thing was pumpkin biscuits. I looked up a few recipes and I didn't really like them because most of them had added sugar. If sugar isn't good for us, then how could it possibly be good for our four legged friends? This recipe is made using 100% pure pumpkin puree and a little honey. I used whole wheat flour as I thought it would be a healthy choice over white flour. You will be happy to know that Buster loves them! I ate one myself to see if they tasted good. And they are not too bad they tasted a little like a breakfast biscuit with a hint of pumpkin.
