30 Minute Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo
2015-10-15 20:19:44
Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo with rice, okra and loaded with lots of fresh vegetables, the entire pot was ready to serve in under thirty minutes. Gluten free and easy to make this recipe is fabulous! When I told my husband, he thought I was joking, he accused me of pulling a batch out of the freezer. Nope, I did not! I honestly think this recipe is as good as the gumbo I make that takes much longer. Simple and easy and ready to serve to my family on a busy work night. I highly recommend you try this. I would love to hear from you. Don't forget to follow me on Facebook and Pinterest.

Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons of file
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
- 2 teaspoon finely chopped garlic cloves
- 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 32 ounces beef stock
- 1 (12 ounce) can of petite chopped tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pound cooked shrimp
- 1 andouille sausage
- 2 cups cooked rice
- oyster crackers
Instructions
- I an over-sized skillet saute olive oil, onion, bell pepper, celery and garlic until tender about 2 minutes, add file, thyme, parsley, and sage. Mix well, then add in sausage, okra, tomatoes. Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper, add beef broth and bring to a boil, cook for about 5 - 8 minutes until the okra is fully, turn heat to low and add cooked rice and shrimp. Turn off and cover to allow shrimp to warm through. Serve immediately with oyster crackers.
Notes
- This is gluten free - and it is fabulous!
